The adventures of Paul and Stephanie aboard the MV Infinite Sea.

We purchased Infinite Sea with the idea in the back of our minds that we may one day want to do the loop.  Once she was ours we realized  that if we were going to do the loop, it should get done before we get too committed elsewhere in our lives to break away.

Our intent is to depart Legacy Marina in April of 2014, head across Florida through the Okochobee Waterway, then up the East Coast ICW, past the Statue of Liberty, up the Hudson to the Erie Canal with the goal to be on the Great Lakes by June.

Tentative Route to Michigan

Tentative Route to Michigan

Paul has boated the Southern Great Lakes for most of his life and we are looking forward to exploring his old stomping grounds on Lake Erie, the Detroit River, Lake St. Clair, the St. Clair River and Lake Huron together.

Although, as Paul hears more about the Trent Severn Waterway, he is sounding intrigued, so as all good cruising plans, this one is written in the sand at high tide.

Unlike most Loopers we will not spend most of the summer on the boat, but will be based out of our cottage in Oscoda and take only short trips.  Georgian Bay is across Lake Huron from Oscoda and is one of the destinations on our list.

In August we will pull up anchor again and head up under the Mackinaw Bridge and down Lake Michigan to Chicago.  We are looking forward to boating through downtown Chicago then down the rivers to Mobile Alabama.  Whether we hug the coast or cross the Gulf to complete the loop is still under discussion.  We both would love to get back to the panhandle if conditions allow.

Found you on Ravelry. We are also preparing a boat for extended travels. Someday the great loop. We are currently waiting for canvas, Electronics installed and some painting in Brunswick, GA. We are moving to charleston (Ashley Marina) latter this month and then to the Chesapeak for the summer. I am knitaholicapa on Ravelry. Maybe we will run into each other along the way. Our boat is an 1986 42 foot Krogen trawler, Knot So Fast. Have fun and be careful. My email is janeynida@yahoo.com. Stop when you go by and we will knit, I am kinda embarrassed how much yarn I have on board.
